

This course offers an introduction-to-middle level treatment to the fundamental ideas of ancient Stoicism, with a focus on its practical applications to modern everyday living. The course uses selected writings by Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius, Plato, Cicero, and Diogenes Laertius, integrated by a number of modern articles on related topics.
Massimo Pigliucci is the K.D. Irani Professor of Philosophy at the City College of New York.
